Teachers are responsible for establishing and managing student learning in a positive environment.

It is important to me that all students feel as if they are being treated fairly.  I regularly ask students to evaluate the classroom atmosphere and to give me feedback on my teaching.  Here is an example of a teacher self-evaluation that I gave to students.  I asked students what they found difficult about the course, what they enjoyed about the course, and whether or not they felt as if they were treated fairly during the duration of the course.  Student feedback is important to me and it helps me shape future lessons and it helps me to adjust my teaching style as necessary to fit the needs of my students.

I believe that every child has the right to attend school without having to feel bullied or discriminated against.  Students know that my room is a safe haven for all individuals and that it is my number one priority to make sure that every student feels safe and accepted for who they are when they enter my classroom.
